IT sector to get a facelift in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Information Technology, Science and Technology is to get a facelift in Arunachal Pradesh as Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu directs the construction agency to expedite the construction of permanent directorate building of IT & Science and Technology in the state capital.
He issued this directive in an hour long meeting held here in his office chamber with Parliamentary Secretary IT Jomde Kena, Commissioner IT Hage Khoda, Director, Kemo Lollen and Director State remote sensing application centre (SRSAC) Dr. G CH Chennaiah, Joint director T Ronya, and other officers of the department.
Khandu while agreeing with the fact of the importance of IT said “Our state is still in an infant stage and we must come up with suitable and viable schemes to upgrade it and make Arunachal fully loaded at par with other IT advanced states like Karnataka”. He called on the parliamentary secretary and the officers present to shoulder the onus of bringing changes in the IT sector.

and has also helped the state governments to plan for IT based citizen-

AAPSU gets support of civil societies, to stage mass protest against Chinese goods
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) conducted a general consultative meeting at hotel Arun Subansiri today on the Chinese claim over the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the Chakma Hajong issues.
The meeting resolved to stand behind the movement spearheaded by the apex students’ body of the state with regards to the banning of Chinese products in the state and deliberated in length about the Chinese goods that comes under the purview of the union boycott that includes Chinese made Guns and Pistols that are mostly flaunted by high up people in the society.
The meeting also resolved to organize a mass protest involving civil societies of the state after the expiry of time period given by the AAPSU for the disposal of Chinese goods and on the vexed issue of Chakma Hajong.
The house opined that new approach need to be adopted for arriving at a permanent solution, for this the apex students body of the state was authorized for broader consultation involving District students union, community based students union, other civil societies and also various government machineries.
The meeting was attended and addressed by Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh, Chemist and Druggist Association of Arunachal Pradesh, Handicapped Welfare Society, Rajiv Gandhi University students union, All Nyishi Students’ Union, Adi Students’ Union and other various organizations and prominent citizens.
Bagra calls for proper sensitization on flagship programmes
Training on Panchayati Raj held
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Tape Bagra, Commissioner (RD) stressed on proper sensitization on flagship programmes of ministry of rural development and panchayati raj for better implementation of the schemes.
Addressing as the chief guest of the four days training programme on Panchayati Raj in Arunachal Pradesh for Lekang & Upper Lekang Anchal Samities of Lohit district on Dec 28, Bagra, who is also the president of the Executive Council (EC) SIRD, further observed that Gaon Burah and Panchayati Raj institutions could chalk out mechanism to act as vigilant body for any of the line department.
Reminding the PR members about their power and function, he said with the gazette notification of the activity mapping, the PR bodies should make the effort for better understanding with the line department. The Panchayat can ask any of the information from any of the line departments through right to information.
Stressing the need of social and economic empowerment, particularly among women, he said SHG is the best means for the micro saving of the rural people.

When contacted, A K Paul EE Power justified that the state government has a RR rules comprising 30% state quota and 70% district quota to fill up the work force in various department in the state. He further said he had to comply with the directives of the higher authority. Dirang MLA gives priority to education
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: MLA Phurpa Tsering of Dirang emphasized the need of providing education to the children right from primary level.
Interacting with all the teachers of Dirang circle at Govt Higher Secondary School, Dirang on Dec 27 last, Tsering informed that he will give priority to education during his tenure and requested Deputy Commissioner to take proper measure to post subject teachers, wherever required.
Announcing contribution of Rs. one crore for the improvement of building and auditorium of Dirang Govt. Higher Secondary School from SPA fund, he further informed that he will be contributing to the improvement of basic infrastructure of Dirang Govt. Higher Secondary School like library, laboratories, construction of girls hostel, boys hostel and boundary wall of the School, etc., from other sources like NEC.
Participating in the meeting as guest of honour West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Swati Sharma informed that every necessary step is being taken to ensure posting of teachers from surplus to deficit areas. She also asked the village education committees (VECs) to meet regularly and come out with genuine ideas for smooth running of school. R. Lendo, Deputy Director of School Education assured the DC and the MLA that he will look into the problems faced by teachers relating to salary, increment, etc.

RGU team conducts conservation workshop
ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Dr. Gibji Nimachow, Assistant Professor, Geography, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) and Dr. J.S. Rawat, Project Fellow accompanied by Dr. Dhruba Sharma, Scholar Life Science, RGU, conducted a workshop on the conservation and regeneration of the Taxus baccata and Rubia cordifolia in the Domkho, Morshing and Tsanglen areas under Kalaktang circle of West Kameng district during Dec 21 to 23.

In Arunachal Pradesh its occurrence has been reported under temperate forests of West Kameng, West Siang, Dibang Valleys and Anjaw Districts. However, large scale and rampant extraction of its from West Kameng and other parts of the State during 1990s has pushed this resource to the limits of extinction.
The survey on its present status in the areas like Domkho, Morshing, Tsanglen, Khelang, Phudung, Mandala, Dirang, New Bomdila and Palizi shows that these areas have now been turned into the ‘death valley’ of this important species with only dead remnants of trees and very isolated and rare saplings. The villagers lamenting the present state expressed their ignorance about the significance of the tree which resulted reckless exploitation. Besides, there was complete absence of standard lopping method adopted for sustainable exploitation. Moderate quake jolts NE
ITANAGAR: An earthquake with moderate intensity rocked parts of North East India today.
Seismological official informed that the tremor of 5.5 magnitudes hit the region at 1431 hrs. The jolt was felt in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Megalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and several states of the NE region.

ITANAGAR: Sangrik Putung Colony Welfare Society (SPCWS), Itanagar conducted social service from December 18 to 28 last.
During the 11 days long social service, the society completed the two kilometer long link road from NH52 GREF Camp, 6 km to Sangrik Putung Colony, Itanagar.
It further appealed the nearby locality of the colony link road to cooperate the society for road connectivity to their respective areas.
